Dear Lawrence Residents:
Isaias was a powerful tropical storm which brought heavy rain and winds to the entire New England region. As it drew closer to our area, the path shifted west which resulted in much less rain but stronger winds over the Long Island area. These winds broke branches, uplifted trees, shifted utility poles and snapped wires, all resulting in power outages.
Throughout the day, the Village diligently collected information pertaining to outages, obstructed streets and hazardous conditions and submitted this to first responders, Lawrence Public Works and PSEG Long Island. The strong winds prevented PSEG from properly assessing outages and their expected repair times.
Since the diminished winds this afternoon, PSEG has been able to focus on ETR (Estimated Time of Restoration) and as of 10:00pm this evening, PSEG reports that repairs are expected to be completed by tomorrow, August 5th after 1pm, though some sporadic outage repairs will already be observed during this period.
As new information is received by the Village, it will be shared with all.
Very truly yours,
Alex H. Edelman
Mayor
is there any info on street blockages for this morning?
