There was a shooting in a local Stop & Shop in West Hempstead (50 Cherry Valley Ave, West Hempstead, NY 11552). We have been informed the shooter may have been a previous employee at the location, and local Law enforcement have a specific person of interest they’re currently looking for.
A source informed 5TC that 3 people have been shot, one has been pronounced dead, 2 others have been shot (they’re both on the way to the hospital). The perpetrator is currently on the loose as Police have swarmed the area. The suspect is armed and Police are advising a complete lockdown in the area.
Nassau Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder says the shooting took place in the building’s second floor in the manager’s office. Ryder says the shooter had a small handgun.
We have also been informed all stores and schools in the area are currently on lockdown, all are advised to shelter in the place.
The situation is fluid, more updates to follow.
