As Chaim V’Chessed has reported extensively, strict new rules have already gone into effect regarding Highest Risk countries, notably including England. Furthermore, many more countries, including the United States, will be joining the High Risk list on Wednesday, August 11. Much confusion and uncertainty abounds regarding these evolving changes. Chaim V’Chessed clarifies some of these issues, below:
Travelers from England and other Highest Risk Countries: Travel is barred for nearly all passengers from Highest Risk countries. Even student visa holders are prohibited from entering Israel from these countries. Student visa holders are allowed to apply for a special permit to enter Israel, though there are no clear guidelines as to who is approved. Click here to apply.
It should be noted that those who receive permits may be sent to quarantine hotels upon their return. Numerous travelers have been sent to hotels, however there are no clear criteria determining who is sent to hotels and who may quarantine at home. Those applying should be aware that this is a real possibility.
Travelers from the soon-to-be-added countries, such as the United States: As of August 11, all travelers from these locations will be required to quarantine for 7-14 days, even if they are vaccinated or recovered. Many travelers have moved up their scheduled travel so as to arrive in Israel before the new rules take effect. Still, there remains uncertainty regarding when exactly these rules will take effect. The rules go into effect on August 11. Does that mean that travelers who leave the United States on the 10th and land on the 11th will be exempt? Officials have given Chaim V’Chessed conflicting reports, so we reiterate that this is unclear.
