Following the weekend blizzard, a local 72-year-old male was stuck in his basement apartment from snow buildup about a foot high. The elderly individual needed to get out for immediate medical care and was unable to leave his apartment.
A woman had heard about the situation and put out a quick status notification of this chessed opportunity. Within minutes, a total stranger was already on the way to assist in the shoveling. Of course, RNSP was already on scene, as well.
The woman who had posted the initial Chessed alert notified locals that she had gotten 23 local men who had called to help within a ten minute span.
Mi Kiamcha Yisroel.
Our units were out and about during this past blizzard assisting the community as needed. We dug out an elderly person who was trapped alone in his apartment and in immediate need of his medication. #AlwaysThere4U@nycemergencymgt@NassauCountyOEM @NYPD101Pct @NassauCountyPD pic.twitter.com/pzA2ffbsp6
