The Nassau County PD seized 20 illegal firearms and more than 3,000 rounds of ammunition this week from a Massapequa dentist’s basement home office.

ESU and BSO responded to the home of Dr. Paul Carey after a 911 call from a dental office employee regarding a man with a gun. When officers arrived, Carey was arrested and through further investigation he was found to be in the possession of 20 illegal guns, 18 of which are “Ghost Guns” that have no serial number and are untraceable. He also had 7 silencers; 61 high-capacity magazines; and approximately 3,000 rounds of ammunition.

The #NCPD revoked Carey’s pistol license in 2012 following an arrest. He obtained the ghost guns through the mail and assembled them in his home.

Paul Carey is charged with first-degree and second-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon and three counts of third-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon.
