President Biden condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as being “without justification or necessity” Thursday as he announced new sanctions and export restrictions against Moscow — but reiterated that no troops would be sent to Ukrainian soil and admitted that America’s European allies were opposed to kicking Russia out of a key global banking system, the NY Post reports.
In remarks from the East Room of the White House, a visibly angry Biden said Russian President Vladimir Putin “is the aggressor” in Europe’s worst conflict since World War II.

Russian ground troops have crossed the Crimea border into Ukraine after Vladimir Putin announced a “special military operation” in the east of the country.
Video footage shows armored vehicles rolling through border force checkpoints on Thursday morning. Ukraine’s border force said a number of its guards were injured.
Explosions were also reported in the outskirts of the cities of Kharkiv, Kramatorsk, Mariupol, as well as the capital Kiev.
US president Joe Biden and Boris Johnson joined other global powers in condemning Russia’s ‘unprovoked and unjustified’ attack on Ukraine as and promised to hold it “accountable”.

Asian markets and US stock futures plunged on Thursday as Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the military operation in the Donbas region of Ukraine.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index (HSI) declined 3.2%. Korea’s Kospi dropped 2.7%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 (N225) lost 2.4% after coming back from a holiday. China’s Shanghai Composite moved 0.9% lower.
US stocks futures also tumbled. Dow futures were down as much as 780 points, or 2.4%. S&P 500 and Nasdaq futures were down 2.3% and 2.8% respectively.
