Eighteen Illegal Guns Off Nassau Streets

0

The Nassau County Police Department took 18 illegal guns off the streets thanks to a multi-agency investigation with the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and the Nassau County District Attorney’s office.

Matthew Spigner, 69, of Manhasset, was arrested after a search warrant was executed at his home in Plandome. The investigation began at JFK Airport when a package addressed to Spigner was flagged as suspicious and it was determined that Spigner was purchasing guns and gun parts – even after already pleading guilty in a previous weapons case in 2021.

Detectives secured a warrant and searched the home, where 18 firearms were found along with multiple cases of ammunition and gun parts, including a silencer.

Matthew Spigner is charged with first-and-second degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon and two counts of third-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon.

We thank our law enforcement partners for their work in this arrest!
