• At least one person was killed and several others injured in Kyiv after the Ukrainian capital “came under fire” on Saturday morning, the city’s mayor said.

• Russia has intensified attacks in eastern Ukraine, according to Ukrainian military and regional officials. The Mykolaiv and Kherson regions in southern Ukraine have been under heavy shelling on Saturday as well, officials said. Ukraine also said that anti-aircraft systems downed Russian cruise missiles that were fired Saturday morning toward the western Lviv region.

• The US assessed Friday that Ukrainian missiles hit the Russian warship Moskva, causing it to sink in the Black Sea, an official said. Russia has denied Ukraine’s claims of striking the ship, saying an onboard fire caused munitions to explode.

• Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that “all of the countries of the world” should be prepared for the possibility that Russian President Vladimir Putin could use tactical nuclear weapons in his war on Ukraine.
