Get Out & Vote: Upcoming School Board Elections This Tuesday, 5/17

0

R’ Axelrod Urges residents to get out and vote in the upcoming school board elections:

All local school board elections will be held on Tuesday May 17 from 7am-10pm.

The Hewlett-Woodmere (District 14) election for 2 seats is a contested election, while the Lawrence (District 15) election for 3 seats is uncontested but very important to go out and vote.

This year’s election is more critical than ever for our community. Issues that impact our daily lives, including school services (special education, bussing) as well as taxes are directly impacted by the school board.  In addition, proposed regulations being considered at the state level potentially gives local school boards oversight over our yeshivas’ curriculums.

Lawrence district residents that are unsure about where to vote can use this link to confirm their designated polling place https://nb.findmypollplace.com/lawrenceufsd/

All Hewlett-Woodmere district residents should vote at 1 Johnson Place in Woodmere.

Please make sure our elected officials know that our interests matter by coming out to vote, even in uncontested elections, which can potentially be impacted by write-in vote campaigns.

If you have any questions about the election, please contact Jonathan Katz [email protected]

Thank you,

Rabbi Shalom Axelrod
