Dozens of people have been shot after gunfire erupted at a 4th of July parade in the wealthy Chicago suburb of Highland Park on Monday, officials said.
Local TV outlet WGN TV, citing unidentified law enforcement sources, said that up to six people are dead and 24 have now been confirmed injured.
The suspect – which remains at large – is described by Illinois Police as a white male 18-20 years old, longer black hair, small build, wearing a white or blue t-shirt. A firearm has been recovered from the scene.
All local businesses continue to remain on lockdown several hours following the deadly shooting.
Lake County officials are asking anyone in the Highland Park area to report any suspicious activity by calling 911, or police at 847-432-7730. To report any delayed information about this incident, the FBI has established a tipline at 800-CALL-FBI.
A father of a young Lubavitcher Bachur said his son was one block away from the shooting and is BH safe, while he and his friends remain sheltered in place.
Apparently he was a block away from the shooting and as soon as it started he safely evacuated to the Chabaf House.
