A couple from Lakewood called the Baltimore Chaverim hotline stating that they were in an accident on 95 in Maryland the day before and their car was towed to a lot in Hanover, Maryland. They were calling to see if a Chaverim member could go to the towing lot to retrieve their belongings such as Tefillin, shaitel, license, cell phone and numerous other belongings and either bring them Baltimore or Lakewood.
A Baltimore Chaverim member who works in Virginia responded that he is passing the lot and could retrieve their belongings, and bring them directly to Lakewood since he was going there for Shabbos straight from work. The craziest part of the story was when the caller said his Tefillin were in the trunk. The problem was, that due to the impact of the accident the trunk pretty much no longer existed.
The Chaverim member was about to give up looking, thinking that they must have been ejected during the accident. When he looked a little closer at the one corner of the trunk that still existed he noticed that tucked tightly between a toaster and the tail light were the undamaged Tefillin in their bag which he was able to pry out from the wreckage.
