It was less than two weeks ago that Ukrainian Ambassador to Israel Yevgen Korniychuk said that Jews who travel to Uman, Ukraine, for Rosh Hashanah are risking their lives.
Yet, as of this time over 1,000 Jews are actually already in Uman, and sources states that approximately 50 charter flights are booked to take even more people there for Rosh Hashanah.
The charter flights are going to be taking travelers to Moldova, from where they will be trying to get their way into Ukraine through a land crossing.
So sad: another victim of Russia's aggression in #Ukraine is the Jewish pilgrimage to Reb Nachman's grave in #Uman at Rosh Hashanah. USG advises don't go — too dangerous. I feel lucky I visited last year. Please, please take our warning seriously: https://t.co/nKQhGrLFBX pic.twitter.com/rw5ZulOmxk
