Brown’s Meeting With DOT Commissioners Yields End to Rockaway Turnpike Nightmare

Following repeated calls for a solution to unnecessary and burdensome traffic along the Rockaway Turnpike, Assemblyman Ari Brown (R-Cedarhurst) announced today that all traffic congestion and construction is expected to come to an end by Thursday, weather permitting, according to the DOT. The announcement comes after Brown facilitated a meeting with NYC DOT Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez and the Department of Environmental Protection this morning, following a letter he sent to the NYC DOT commissioner on Aug. 10.

“It’s finally coming to an end,” Brown said. “Department of Transportation commissioners have assured me that this traffic nightmare will be coming to an end by this Thursday, weather permitting. Our residents, commuters and emergency services departments have suffered for far too long with unnecessary delays and dangerous driving conditions and, today, we know there is a light at the end of the tunnel.”

  1. This guy is trying to pretend to be our savior when he personally voted for the Pearsall project that will add hundreds of cars to our roads crippling our already overburdened traffic. Time to vote him out.

  2. Ari Brown’s support of the Pearsall project is also going to cause more delays on all local roads especially on Central Avenue and the streets connected to it. How mean-spirited of him to hurt everyone in the Five Towns just because he will personally receive financial benefits from the “bribe” offered by the Pearsall developer to the Village of Cedarhurst. First he votes to give himself a village salary and benefits, then he votes to screw his constituents to help cover his benefits.

He is now just trying to divert everyone’s attention from how he didn’t care less about us.

  3. He’s pretending to be the savior by throwing us a bone regarding work done on Rockaway tnpke.. I think he’s a Democrat in disguise.. vote him out!

  4. Well, it’s already over a week since Brown claims he resolved the traffic situation on Rockaway Turnpike, yet it’s been backed up for hours multiple times within the past week. Even a small fender bender ties up traffic since there are just many more cars than this road can handle.

Brown’s efforts are meaningless in the long picture.
