A 44-year-old man blocked the path of a Q4 NYC bus and approached the driver with what appeared to be a firearm. The incident took place at 199th and Linden st in Queens. The driver immediately opened all the doors, allowing 10 people to exit the bus to safety.
The suspect ordered the driver to drive onward, which he did for 30 blocks. At a stop, the bus driver leaped out of the window and ran off.
The suspect drove the bus several blocks, until eventually crashing into a utility pole. The driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and the suspect was immediately apprehended by responding officers from the NYPD 113th Precinct. The firearm was discovered to be an imitation pistol.
