Councilwoman Inna Vernikov issued the following statement after an Orthodox resident was fined for not cleaning his yard, she also issued a response to footage of city workers removing Zeldin signs from lawns:
“The office of Councilwoman Inna Vernikov has been flooded with complaints from constituents of city agencies removing political signs in our neighborhood. Specifically signs for Lee zeldin (0 Hochul signs here). Complaints are backed up with video and photographic evidence of city agency employees doing it.
This morning, a home was fined by a sanitation employee for having a cigarette bud & a paper on the ground, while the home next door had furniture & other trash out & got no ticket. NYC Sanitation does not fine every home for cigarette buds. This was clearly politically motivated.
I spoke to Chief Moglino at NYC Sanitation, Chief Moglino was disturbed by the complaints, acknowledged that it was his employee, that the perception is negative and politicized, and spoke to legal and enforcement unit. Constituent’s fine was immediately voided at my request.
He informed me that NYC Sanitation has advised their employees the following:
1. Any signs in areas like Ocean Parkway can be removed as it’s public property.
2. Any signs on lawns cannot be removed.
3. Signs in front of lawns on city property DSNY won’t remove & will ask home owners to move to their lawns.
4. Home owners won’t be randomly ticketed because of Zeldin signs.
5. This employee is being dealt with.
6. There WILL BE consequences for workers who don’t follow rules.
We’ve never seen politically motivated agency enforcement on this scale before in this neighborhood. City agencies need to focus on their jobs, otherwise back to USSR if agencies are suppressing political speech. I thank Chief Moglino for his swift action.”

Haha, Hochul and her cronies in NYC have tried every fake news smear in the book and nothing is sticking. So in true totalitarian fashion, she gets her goons to do the dirty work of yanking signs away. Of course they wouldn’t be doing that if it were her signs all over. Not surprised. Even before COVID, NYC and by extension Albany have been run like an uncontrolled mafia ruled by the left. It hasn’t acted like real America for a long time now. Time to change that with Zeldin.
