Hillel Fuld Shares Thoughts on Israel’s Judicial Reforms & The Current Hysteria Behind it

Before I even begin, I want to say loud and clear, while there is a reform needed (desperately), it is way more important that we prevent the hatred and incitement we’ve been seeing. There needs to be a compromise and fast. But I need to share some thoughts.

If you follow me, you surely know that nothing bothers me as much as hypocrisy. I can’t stand it. It makes my blood boil. I’m ok with differing opinions. I even welcome them. I’m not ok with double standards, inconsistencies, and hypocrisy.

I just have one question. When this is all over, how will the left (and don’t tell me this isn’t about left or right. There is a direct correlation between the left in Israel and the anti-reform movement!) ever criticize the right for anything they do as part of a protest? Ever.

Just imagine if one day, right-wing protestors would physically block an MK and her autistic child from leaving their home, wave flags for hours calling the PM a traitor, slam on tables in the Knesset, try to break through Knesset security, and compare the gov to Nazis.

Can’t even picture the outrage if the right did this! It is the actual definition of anarchy. The fundamental logic here is beyond flawed. “We are worried about the state, so let’s turn it into anarchy. We are worried about the economy, so let’s pull our money and cause it harm.”

In a democracy, protests are ok and even encouraged. Violence and incitement to actual murder (See what the mayor of Tel Aviv said! It’s truly insane!) is not ok. What is happening now is not ok in any way, shape, or form, and it’s getting more dangerous by the day.

But to the actual issue itself, it’s insanity. The entire thing is one big lie. Really? The end of the democracy because the judges won’t be able to elect themselves anymore? Really? You mean, like in every other democracy in the world? It’s laughable how the agenda is so clear!

The left lost the election and now they’re about to lose their Supreme Court that has been dominated by left wing super liberal judges starting with Aharon Barak who openly admitted he basically knows zero about Judaism. A Supreme Court justice in the Jewish state. A joke!

In addition to the left losing their last source of power, they are also sickly obsessed with Netanyahu. Their entire election campaign was “Just not Bibi”. And now that they lost that election, they’re trying to bring down Bibi another way. And they’ll fail. Again.

I am watching their behavior and it’s disgusting. What is amazing to me is when Sharon undemocratically forcefully kicked 10k Jews out of their homes, we didn’t see these “Democracy warriors” take to the streets nor did we see any right wing protestors threaten to leave Israel.

So the hypocrisy and hysteria here is completely ridiculous and baseless. This reform will pass (even though I’d love to see a compromise of some sort!) and you know what will happen to Israeli democracy? Zero. Know what will happen to Israeli tech? Zero. Investors? Zero.

If any anti reform activist is reading this… I know you’re upset and I hear and validate your opinion but are there any limits to the means you use to protest this reform? Is everything allowed? Where do you draw the line because now it seems that there are no red lines.

I look at my country for which I sacrificed so much and I’m sad. These anti reform anarchists are deliberately trying to cause as much damage as possible. Political damage, economic damage, and more. It’s sad and dangerous. I hope they come to their senses but I’m skeptical.

The good news? We know how it ends and everything will be ok. Everything will be more than ok. We’ll finally be a real democracy and the world will go on. We’ve been through harder things and we’ll make it through this. The only thing that kills me is the hypocrisy and hatred.

For those who are asking why a reform is needed, I gave one of tens of examples. But this one is so absurd, it tells the whole story. Click here to view.
