Bold Heist in Inwood: “Rogue” Escape Through Service Bay Door Leaves Detectives on The Hunt

The Fourth Squad reports the details of a Burglary that occurred on Saturday, May 13th, at 11:30 pm in Inwood.

According to Detectives, A unknown subject did break a glass garage door at the Rockway Nissan located at 600 Burnside Avenue. The subject then entered into a 2021 grey Nissan Rogue. After a few minutes the subject was able to accelerate quickly in reverse and left in the auto by driving through the service bay door. The keys that the subject used to start the car were left in the vehicle by the dealership.

The subject fled westbound on Burnside Avenue toward Sheridan Boulevard. There were no injuries reported and the investigation is ongoing. No other proceeds were reported taken.

Nassau police described the subject as “a black male, 6” tall, thin build, blue sweatshirt, and blue jeans“.

  1. please note that there is nothing negligent about leaving a key in a car that is secured behind a locked door, which was the case here. The car was in a secure area. One can speculate as to why a burglar would target a specific car and be willing to damage it (by plowing through a door) in order to get the car out.
