Israel’s Response to The Maui Wildfire Crisis

In the wake of the catastrophic wildfires that ravaged Maui, a glimmer of hope emerged from Israel, thousands of miles away.

SmartAID, Israel’s distinguished humanitarian aid organization, promptly dispatched a team of specialists to the impacted region. This team, comprising search and rescue experts, also played a pivotal role in establishing essential telecommunication systems to streamline relief efforts.

Furthermore, SmartAID is in the process of setting up a coordination center equipped with state-of-the-art communication tools and is also introducing solar energy installations vital for medical teams. The organization’s dedication extends to ensuring a consistent electricity supply by installing Tesla Power Wall Microgrids and providing essential supplies.

“We have launched our response to the Maui wildfire crisis. By combining clean energy solutions, essential aid, and telecommunications, we are making sure that every child, mother, and family will have access to electricity, internet, and essential basic needs.

To make this happen, we are deploying mobile solar power units to emergency shelters, critical health facilities, and local charities, making sure all the basic needs are addressed properly and helping families on the island.

The team will also provide access to internet to ensure families can reach out to their loved ones and access humanitarian support, while also enabling our local community-based partners to use the systems to coordinate their efforts in more remote areas of the island.

We are all about partnership, localization, empowering the community, and maximising each donation to its fullest capacity.

Join us in strengthening all our loved ones.”

A team of eight SmartAID specialists already landed in Maui. At least four specialize directly in search and rescue. The others are set to assist in installing telecommunication systems meant to facilitate better coordination among first responders and ensure a seamless provision of aid and various social services.

The team is also distributing crucial relief items, such as hygiene kits, blankets, water filters and clothing.

In addition, SmartAID’s German volunteers are preparing to ship to Maui essential high-end cleaning machines to local health institutions, temporary shelters and homes that were damaged but not completely destroyed by the fires.

Mi Kiamcha Yisrael.
