Queens Man Arrested Following Armed Robbery of Rockaway Turnpike Gas Station

A Queens resident, Reggie Rivas, aged 26, has been apprehended by Nassau County police for his alleged involvement in a string of armed robberies in Cedarhurst.

Rivas reportedly entered the Sunoco gas station on Rockaway Turnpike shortly after midnight on Friday evening. He pointed a gun at an unsuspecting employee demanding cash. The employee complied and handed over an “undisclosed sum of money” to the armed assailant. Rivas then ordered the victim to lie on the floor before making his escape.

Local authorities were quick to respond to the distress call, launching a manhunt for the suspect. The manhunt ended after they located Rivas in Inwood. Clearly uncooperative and combative, Rivas inflicted injuries upon one of the officers attempting to apprehend him. The injured officer was subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment, suffering a leg injury.

Following the arrest, it was found that he was also responsible for an armed robbery at another Sunoco station earlier this month. This added further weight to the charges that Rivas would be facing.

As always, we thank our local law enforcement for managing to apprehend the suspect and hope he stays behind bars.
