Another Loaded Gun Taken Off The Streets Following Arrest in Inwood

The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of a Brooklyn man for an incident that occurred on Monday, September 11th, at 9:41 p.m. in Inwood.

According to Detectives, CIRRT (Criminal Intelligence Rapid Response Team) Officers, while on routine patrol, observed a 2021 BMW making unsafe lane changes and having excessive window tints.

The officers conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law Stop at Nassau Expressway and Burnside Avenue intersection. After a thorough investigation, the defendant, Uton Powell, 25, was placed into police custody without incident. Officers recovered a loaded Glock 9mm handgun from the vehicle. The investigation is ongoing.

Defendant Powell is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm and multiple Traffic Violations. He will be arraigned on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
