We announce with sorrow the passing of Hagaon Rabbi Baruch Mordechai Ezrachi ZT”L, Rosh Yeshiva of Ateres Yisrael and senior member of Degel Hatorah Moetzas Gedolei Yisrael. He was 94 years old.

Rabbi Ezrachi was hospitalized several months ago at Hadasa Ein Kerem Hospital due to shortness of breath. His condition quickly deteriorated, and he was put on a ventilator. During the last four months, his condition had at times improved, but on Thursday morning he lost consciousness and passed away.

Rav Ezrachi was born in 1929. In his younger years he studied in Chevron yeshiva and later married the daughter of Rav Meir Chodosh, the famed Mashgiach of Yeshivas Chevron. R’ Ezrachi taught shiur in the yeshiva as well as in Kfar Chasidim.

In 1976 R’ Ezrachi left Chevron yeshiva and founded Yeshivas Ateres Yisrael in Bayit Vagan. Rav Meir Chodosh served as the Mashgiach in the yeshiva, which quickly gained prominence as Rabbi Ezrachi inspired the masses.

In recent years, the yeshiva had moved from Bayit V’gan to Modiin Illit and Rav Ezrachi continued to head the yeshiva and commute there from his home until he became ill.

He will be buried on Har Hazeisim next to his wife Shulamis, who passed away two years ago. The levaya is set to be postponed until Friday, as his only son is abroad and has not yet returned. The Levaya will take place at the Ateres Yisrael Yeshiva in Modiin Illit.

Yihi Zichro Baruch.
