The IDF has initiated a significant offensive in the southern Gaza Strip, focusing on the western Khan Younis area. Led by the 98th Division, four brigades are actively engaged in dismantling Hamas’s military framework in the region.
The offensive commenced with a series of airstrikes targeting Hamas sites in the area. Ground troops from the Commando, Paratroopers, Givati, and 7th brigades have been involved in intense battles since the offensive began, resulting in approximately 50 Hamas terrorists, including several commanders, being neutralized.
The ongoing operation is expected to continue for several days, encompassing the IDF’s raid on key Hamas strongholds, outposts, and infrastructure within the Khan Younis area. The challenges are heightened due to the presence of civilians sheltering in Khan Younis, distinguishing it from other parts of northern Gaza.
The Kfir Brigade last night was withdrawn from the Gaza Strip for a short R&R and training period, and have been replaced with other forces in the Khan Younis area, the military says.
