Fallen IDF soldier Matan Vinogradov wrote the following letter to his family. In the letter, he expresses the following: “If you are reading this, I am either critically wounded or dead. Know that I was killed fighting for Israel and its citizens, against Nazis that must be erased from the earth. Make my legacy something that will help people far into the future.”

How terribly sad that we, as Jews, must constantly battle for survival. We only want peace and to see our beautiful children, for they are all our children, grow up and live happy, productive lives. We don’t want to kill anyone, but they kill us, and we must send our bravest and strongest out to defend our very right to exist on the planet. Even our tiny scrap of land is too much for our enemies. If they left us alone, their own children would survive and build happy communities, but they will not leave us alone. They constantly strategize ways to kill all of us. So we have no choice. Let us celebrate the memory of this brave soldier, Matan.
