Israel’s Supreme Court to Stop Funding Charedi Yeshivos That Ignore IDF Drafting Requirements

Israel’s Supreme Court today issued an unprecedented ruling targeting the Charedi yeshiva communities, ordering the government to immediately stop funding yeshivas with students who are required to serve in the IDF and are refusing to comply. This includes all Yeshiva Bachurim under the age of 26.

The ruling is a significant change in several decades of exemption from military service for Charedi yeshiva students and a strong shift in relations between the Charedi community and the rest of the state.

Many leading Gedolim have voiced their opposition stating that without funding there can be a large gap in Sedarim which can lead to “catastrophic results on the battlefield Chas V’shalom”.

Many Americans who have been supporting the war efforts since the attack in October are now rallying to support Yeshivas in Eretz Yisroel in response to that ruling which may cut funding significantly.

World-renowned Askan Shai Groacher who has raised millions of dollars for IDF soldiers and war victims is also now refocusing his efforts reportedly to assist the Yeshiva community.
