Local high school teacher Simcha Frishman has made waves in the educational community by advancing to the quarterfinals of America’s Favorite Teacher competition, a prestigious event powered by Colossal, a nationally registered professional fundraiser. This competition, running from March 25th to May 30th, aims to support Teach For America in its mission to identify, develop, and support equity-oriented leaders who can transform education and expand opportunities for students.
Simcha Frishman, a dedicated educator originally from Far Rockaway and now resides with his wife and 4 children in Inwood, NY, has been teaching for two decades. His teaching journey began at Darchei Torah, continued at Ezra Academy and Netzach, and he now imparts knowledge and wisdom to juniors and seniors at DRS. Besides his teaching roles, Simcha also coaches multiple teams, both sports and academics, showcasing his passion for nurturing young minds both in and out of the classroom.
Throughout the competition, Simcha has consistently held first place in each round, thanks to strong support from his community, students both past and present and beyond. He aspires to win the grand prize, believing it would be a significant victory not only for himself but also for teachers everywhere. Simcha shared, “Winning this competition would be a tremendous win for teachers everywhere to show our hard work is being acknowledged.”
