Several police cars were seen chasing a car going down the 878. The car appeared to be missing a wheel and driving on the wrong side of the road.
Updated 1:45 PM:
We have been notified that the car was stolen in Far Rockaway. A helicopter was seen looking for the perpetrator who ditched the car and ran on foot. At the current time, cops on Cumberland Place told all the families to stay inside. Others say he was last seen running near Mott Ave. This is ongoing, and everyone is asked to be vigilant and stay indoors in the interim.

The chase originated outside of Nassau County (Beach Channel Drive in Far Rockaway). The perpetrator drove into Nassau County jurisdiction, which is why Nassau police are involved in assisting with the chase (RNSP as well). We’re told the perpetrator has NOT yet been caught. The police are currently surrounding the cemetery in Lawrence, behind the train tracks.
Updated 3:30 PM:
We were informed that there is no longer any danger to go outdoors. However, it seems the investigation is still ongoing. The information given to us did not say that the perpetrator was taken into custody yet.
Updated 6:15 PM: At this time, neither NYPD nor Nassau County Police were able to confirm that a suspect has been caught. A source reported to 5TC that the suspect was driving a stolen vehicle and fled the vehicle near Rockaway and LIRR train tracks. He then ran on foot into the cemetery and, apparently, changed clothes- making it more difficult to track him down. He managed to evade police and get away. It is unknown if the suspect is armed. If anyone has any information they should call 911.

Officially as of 3:40 p.m. the 2 perps were not caught. They we’re seen at a cemetery in Lawrence.

I was on scene and i think he went on the Lirr train towards far rockway station that pulled up like 2 minutes after they found his clothes in the cemetery. and nobody realized.
