Nassau Crossing Guard Honored For Saving a Boy Within Inches of a Car

0

Meet Nassau County Police Dept. Crossing Guard Rosemarie O’Brien of the First Precinct. Back in January, Rosemarie was at her crossing in Baldwin one morning helping a child and his mother cross the street. Suddenly, a car came out of nowhere, and Rosemarie immediately pushed the child out of the way. According to the child’s mother, the car came only a couple of inches from hitting Rosemarie.

Every day, Rosemarie and her fellow Crossing Guards take on the immense task of keeping schoolchildren safe as they navigate busy roads on their way to and from school – and they do it all with a smile!

Inspector Mark Vitelli and Lieutenant Chris Boylan honored Rosemarie this week for her amazing efforts. Please join us in thanking Rosemarie for her quick actions in preventing what could have been a tragic situation. The residents of the First Precinct are lucky to have her!
We thank Rosemarie for her dedication and selfless service! Thank you @nassaucountypd for publishing this story!
