PHONE SCAM: Oceanside Resident Scammed By “FBI” Resulting In Over $16k Loss

The Fourth Squad reports the details of a Grand Larceny that occurred on Monday, April 26, 2021 at 9:45 AM in Oceanside.

According to Detectives, a 36-year-old female victim received a phone call from an unknown male claiming to be from the FBI. The victim was instructed to purchase several gift cards, totaling $16,500 (US), and take photographs of them. She then sent the pictures to the suspect using the WhatsApp application. At 5:46 PM the victim called Police to report the incident.
