The Village of Cedarhurst and New York American Water are making major infrastructure improvements to Washington Avenue. More than 2,500 feet of aging water main pipes are being replaced on Washington Avenue between Pearsall Avenue and West Broadway. In addition 70 service lines and 5 fire hydrants, will be replaced as part of the project.
Work began last week and we anticipate it will be complete by the end of July. As soon as the subsurface work is finished, we will repave all of Washington Avenue from Pearsall Avenue to West Broadway, curb-to-curb. The project should be completed by Mid-August
All construction will take place between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Residents should note that sections of the Washington Avenue where construction is taking place may be closed to traffic during these working hours.
Please allow some extra time during your commute and proceed slowly and carefully around work crews for everyone’s safety.
