Fourth Precinct officers said they saw a sedan commit multiple traffic violations early Monday morning, which led them to follow the car and ultimately pull the man over.

Police located a loaded .22 caliber handgun on the car’s floor, behind the passenger seat. There was also a substance believed to be narcotics found in his pocket at the time he had been pulled over.
Shaquez Erwin, 24, was placed in custody near the Nassau Expressway and Bay Boulevard, Nassau police said.
Erwin was taken to the 4th Precinct in Hewlett where he was arrested without further incident, police said.
He was scheduled to be arraigned on Monday in Hempstead on charges of criminal possession of a firearm, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and several vehicle and traffic law infractions, according to police.
