Rabbi Gabriel Benayon, Chabad Rabbi in Panama City, was in NYC this past month for the Kinus Hashluchim, the annual conference of Chabad Rabbis. He noticed a man without shoes & literally handed him the shoes off his feet.
The Rabbi had bought a pair of sneakers while in the city. On the way back, on the subway, a man walked on without shoes.
A few minutes passed R’ Gavriel thought, “How could I buy new sneakers while this man is walking barefoot in the NYC subway?” So he continued to hand the homeless man his own shoes and put his new sneakers on instead.
