On December 6, 2021 The Woodmere Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a basement fire in Woodmere.
Engine 355 was quickly out the door with Ladder 352 following closely behind. Chief Mike Bellinson (3201) of Lawrence Cedarhurst was the first unit on scene and transmitted a working fire in the basement. Hose lines were stretched off of Engine 355 and quickly put into operation. Within minutes of arrival the fire was extinguished.
Quick and efficient work by Woodmere, Lawrence Cedarhurst, Inwood, Valley Stream, Hewlett, and Long Beach companies contained the fire to the basement. Stand by crews were provided by Lynbrook and Elmont fire departments while EMS crews were on scene from Woodmere, Hatzolah, and Nassau County.
Thankfully no injuries were reported.
