The Chevron community hosted world class actor Jon Voight, 83, on Sunday – one of his many stops on his 10-day mission to Israel, where he is gathering material for a biblical film series. The series will be titled ‘The Land of Israel’ expressing the richness of the Jewish Heritage and homeland.
Voight also visited a number of Jewish communities in the West Bank this past week.
Voight is the winner of one Academy Award, having been nominated for four. He has also won four Golden Globe Awards and has been nominated for eleven. In 2019 he was awarded the National Medal of Arts. He is the father of actress Angelina Jolie and actor James Haven.
He is known for his outspoken support for the State of Israel & the Jewish people. Supporting Israel makes Voight an outlier in the Hollywood / celebrity community, where many do not share similar views. He has shown himself to be a tremendous Oheiv Yisroel and has referred to the Jewish people as “Gods People”.
He was also a staunch supporter of the former President, Donald Trumps campaign. This also showed his unique ability to express what he felt was the right thing, even though he knew he’d receive backlash from his many colleagues for doing so.
