UPDATE: As of 9:20 PM we have been informed that the bomb squad has officially left the scene, after inspecting the premises for over 5 hours.
We thank our local law enforcement for allowing us to feel safe under such circumstances.

There was a heavy police presence outside the JCC on Central Ave due to a bomb threat situation, late Sunday afternoon. Police had evacuated that side of Central Avenue as the investigation transpired.
Lawrence Mayor Alex Edelman was on the scene at the JCC building, assessing the situation together with Police and Nassau County bomb squad units. The police successfully swept the entire building and have found nothing.
They are still on the scene double checking everything now as an extra precaution. The threat was reportedly sent in via an email.
