Why A Lubavitcher Rosh Yeshiva was Holding A Dog

A video that has gone viral on social media shows Rabbi Shlomo Chaim Feldman, Rosh Yeshiva of the Chabad Yeshiva in Kiryat Ata, holding a dog by the leash on an Israeli street.

Rabbi Feldman, a renowned talmid chochom who served as a Rosh Yeshiva in Tomchei Tmimim of Cholon before being appointed as the Rosh Yeshiva in Kiryat Ata, is seen in the video trying to control the dog as it walks circles around him.

But the video shows the backstory as well: Just a few feet away stood the dog’s owner, wrapped in Tefillin and saying Shema. The owner had been requested by Rabbi Feldman to put on Tefillin, and had happily agreed as long as his dog would be watched. Without thinking twice, Rabbi Feldman took the dog’s leash…
