Important Message From Achiezer Regarding Safety Over Shabbos

12

Dear Community,

After the recent rumors and reports about a potential national “Day of Hate,” we have been asked by dozens of shuls and yeshivos to respond with a clear and unified message.

After consultation with the Police Commissioners of both New York City and Nassau County as well as Captain Timothy Schultz, Commanding Officer of the 101 Precinct (covering Far Rockaway and Bayswater) and Inspector Vincent Boden, Commanding Officer of the Fourth Precinct (covering the Five Towns), we have come to the conclusion that, while the social media rhetoric is extremely troubling, there does not seem to be any specific threat to any community (including ours). Naturally, these discussions lead to heightened anxiety and we know that the risks are always there. To that end, each of the aforementioned departments have committed to increased patrols with specialized units over the next several days, specifically centered around houses of worship within the community.

Each has pledged to immediately update us if there is a change in the security situation.

We wish to thank the Rockaway Nassau Safety Patrol for their continued efforts in patrolling the streets and acting as eyes and ears for the community throughout the year and of course the dedicated men and women of our collective police forces for their selfless dedication to our safety.

Finally, we cannot take our safety for granted. The Commanding Officers have implored us to remind the community that everything is worth reporting. If you see something, say something.

Wishing you a peaceful, safe and uplifting Shabbos.

  1. shomrim and what will they do call the cops and then what the judges will let them out what a waste of time and resources what we need are more cool photo ops so we can go ooh and ahh to help out their egos

  2. So you’re saying that shomrim and the cops are useless. I personally would rather this Shabbos by my shul a police and shomrim presence.

  3. Shomrim are just vigilantes. Their lights are totally illegal and the Nassau Police hate them and have threatened to arrest them for impersonating a cop

  4. True but Nassau PD only hates them because they are a bunch of big shots and have nothing better to do. NYPD on the other hand who is actually busy really appreciates the work of RNSP.

  5. so what is nassau pd does better policing than nypd i beleive shomrim is a waste of money look at the williamsburg one where the person sued them and they never went to court

  6. Shomrim locally is a joke. A bunch of 20 year old bums with illegal lights and sirens pretending they’re Hatzalah and the police. They need to get jobs or get back in the beis medrash and learn, stop bumming around
