Two Tourists Injured in Car Accident Near The Dead Sea, Treated by Eli Beer

Dead Sea – On Sunday afternoon United Hatzalah volunteers treated two pedestrians (a man and a woman in their mid-20s) who were hit by a vehicle near the Kalia intersection located close to the Dead Sea.

President and Founder of United Hatzalah Eli Beer, and his wife Gitty Beer who were vacationing with their family at the Dead Sea were driving to pick up supplies when they received the alert from dispatch regarding the accident. They quickly drove to the location and arrived in just three minutes.

Eli and Gitty exited the vehicle and joined in the treating of the two pedestrians, who were already receiving treatment from United Hatzalah volunteers who were also in the area and had arrived before the President and his wife.

The combined team began to bandage the wounds of the pedestrians and were joined by medical units from the IDF who also responded to the accident.

After the incident was over Eli said: “The man and woman were tourists themselves and were injured by other tourists. One was in serious condition and the other was in moderate condition due to the nature and severity of their injuries. We bandaged their wounds and stabilized them enough to be transported from the area to the closest hospital.”

Beer added that the United Hatzalah teams also treated the driver and passengers in the car. “Due to the nature of the accident, those in the car were treated at the scene by members of the Psychotrauma and Crisis Response Unit. For me, this has always been what it meant to be a first responder. Arriving as quickly as possible and helping treat people who need medical assistance. Had the other volunteers, my wife and I, not been there, these two people would have had to wait much longer to receive medical care and that could have caused the situation to deteriorate. It doesn’t matter what we are doing, whether we are on vacation, at work, or spending time away with the family. When an emergency occurs, we respond, and we help anyone and everyone, regardless of their nationality, religion, insurance situation, or anything else, and we do it for free. That is United Hatzalah.”
