In a significant diplomatic move, Mayor Adams is set to embark on his inaugural trip to Israel since assuming office, his office announced on Thursday. Adams has many times expressed his excitement for being the mayor of most Jews in America. He has also called NYC the “Tel Aviv of America”.

Scheduled to arrive in Jerusalem next Monday, Mayor Adams will spend three days in the city before traveling to Tel Aviv the following Wednesday. The return to New York City is slated for the day after the Tel Aviv leg of the trip, as confirmed by the mayor’s office.

During his visit, Mayor Adams has planned to engage with local and national leaders, delve into Israel’s technological advancements, and engage in discussions on collaborative measures to counteract antisemitism. While this marks Adams’ first official visit to the democratic country as Mayor, his then-Chief of Staff, Frank Carone, undertook a similar visit in his government capacity last July.

His office has yet to disclose the details of Mayor Adams’ scheduled meetings with various leaders. The visit is being facilitated by the United Jewish Appeal-Federation of New York, indicating its significance within the context of international relations.

With more information expected to be shared in the coming days, this trip follows Mayor Adams’ hosting of Israel’s President, Isaac Herzog, in New York back in July.
