BDE: IDF Soldier Murdered HY”D in Truck-Ramming Terror Attack Near Modi’in

Tragedy struck near the central city of Modi’in this morning when an off-duty sodier was murdered HY”D, and five others, including soldiers, were wounded in a harrowing truck-ramming terror attack.

The attack was perpetrated by an Arab truck driver who, upon arriving at the Maccabim checkpoint, executed a U-turn and ruthlessly plowed into a group of off-duty soldiers who were walking along the side of the road.

The terrorist, identified as 41-year-old Daoud Abdel Razak Faiz Faiz Yimach Shimo, hailed from the town of Deir ‘Ammar and had a permit to enter Israel for work, adding a layer of complexity to the tragic incident.

Security forces swiftly engaged the attacker, who attempted to flee towards the Hashmonaim checkpoint, located approximately seven kilometers (4.3 miles) away from the scene. In a decisive response, the terrorist was shot dead Bichasdei Hashem, ensuring that the threat was neutralized.

In the aftermath of the attack, United Hatzalah volunteer EMT Daniel Simchayoff provided insights into the immediate aftermath, stating, “According to passersby, three young people were hit by a commercial vehicle who then fled the scene. With the assistance of a United Hatzalah ambulance and a United Hatzalah physician, we provided initial treatment at the scene to two young people who were critically and seriously injured and to an additional young man who sustained mild injuries. The young man who was lightly injured was transported by a United Hatzalah ambulance to the Shamir-Assaf HaRofeh Medical Center.”

This distressing incident comes in the wake of a series of recent attacks in the region, perpetuating a cycle of violence that continues to affect both Israeli civilians and security personnel. The situation remains tense, with authorities maintaining a vigilant stance in their efforts to safeguard the well-being of the population.
