“They Don’t Care About the Country At All” – Tucker Carlson Calls Out Pro-Israel Conservatives

In an interview with political podcast Breaking Points, former Fox News host Tucker Carlson told Saagar Enjeti that those focusing on the ongoing conflict in Israel weren’t focusing enough on the home front. Carlson said, “There are people on the ‘right’ who have spent the last two months, every single day, focused on a conflict in a foreign country as our own country becomes dangerously unstable…”. He then went on to say, “If I’m so caught up in the problems of my neighbor’s children and completely ignoring my own children…clearly I don’t love my kids”.

While Carlson decidedly didn’t mention any names, dots have been connected to Ben Shapiro, editor emeritus of The Daily Wire. Shapiro, whose long-running Sunday-Friday podcast The Ben Shapiro Show has 1800+ episodes, is a well-known Conservative pundit and has been loudly and consistently fighting for Israel across his social media platforms since the attacks.

Despite Carlson’s avoidance of names, former U.S. Ambassador to Israel David M. Friedman has posted in defense of Shapiro, saying “My friend [Ben Shapiro] is an American patriot who cares deeply about our country…Ben also cares deeply, as do I, about Hamas’s brutal assault on Israeli civilians…One can be an American patriot and support both a closed border and American aid to Israel…But [Tucker Carlson] says that since Ben supports Israel he doesn’t care about America…It’s a shameful thing to say and he should apologize.”

As someone who describes himself as “the most influential voice in right-wing media, without a close second”, you’d think Tucker Carlson would think twice before attacking his political compatriots. Maybe, he could use that oh-so-influential voice to garner support for Israel, instead of calling out those who are actually trying to make a difference. Being pro-Israel doesn’t make you anti-America. Being pro-Israel doesn’t make you anti-conservative. Being pro-Israel makes you pro-Israel.

Shapiro has yet to comment.
