Man Arrested for Attempted Burglary in Cedarhurst

The Fourth Squad has released details regarding the arrest of an individual for an attempted burglary that took place on Tuesday, March 5th, at 5:17 a.m. in Cedarhurst.

According to detectives, Thomas E. Taylor, 53, from East Meadow, was captured on surveillance camera footage entering the victim’s vehicle and taking property without authorization. Taylor proceeded to use the remote found inside the vehicle to open the garage door of the residence. However, he left the scene on foot without taking any additional items.

Following an investigation, detectives identified Taylor and apprehended him at 2:40 p.m. in front of 255 Lawrence Avenue, Inwood. The arrest was made without any incident.

Taylor has been charged with attempted burglary in the second degree and petit larceny. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at First District Court, located at 99 Main Street, Hempstead.

Additionally, Taylor had an outstanding Nassau County Bench Warrant related to an incident in Inwood on February 27, 2018. The warrant charged him with criminal mischief in the second and fourth degrees, as well as petit larceny.
