Man Arrested for Assault and Other Offenses in North Lawrence

The Fourth Squad has reported the arrest of an individual in connection with an assault incident that occurred on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 5:50 pm in North Lawrence.

According to investigators, the suspect, identified as William B. Foster, 44, was observed entering Marshalls at 345 Rockaway Turnpike. A loss prevention officer recognized Foster from a prior larceny incident and contacted the police.

Upon the arrival of officers at the scene, Foster was located in front of DSW. He attempted to evade arrest and disregarded verbal commands from law enforcement. After a brief pursuit on foot, officers apprehended Foster. During the apprehension, one officer sustained injuries and was subsequently transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Further inquiry revealed that Foster was also involved in a robbery incident on February 6, 2024, at 4:18 pm, as well as two larcenies at Burlington Coat Factory, located at 345 Rockaway Turnpike, on January 1, 2024, and February 12, 2024.

William B. Foster faces charges including Assault in the 2nd Degree, Robbery in the 3rd Degree, two counts of Petit Larceny, and Resisting Arrest. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at First District Court, located at 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
