New York City is on the verge of a significant development with the impending vote on the Willets Point redevelopment plan by the City Council.
The plan, which has already received approval from the City Planning Commission for Phase II, encompasses a privately funded soccer stadium worth $780 million.
Situated near Citi Field in Queens, the 25,000-seat stadium is set to become the home ground for Major League Soccer’s New York City Football Club. Additionally, Phase II of the redevelopment initiative includes provisions for 1,400 units of affordable housing, a 250-room hotel, 80,000 square feet of commercial retail space, and nearly 3 acres of public open space.
