Shor Yoshuv Set to Close For Yom Tov (Unless Injunction Granted)

Dear Chavrei HaYeshiva,

As you are well aware by now, the Agudah has filed for an injunction against Governor Cuomo’s orders, which will be heard by a judge later this afternoon. Since the Yeshiva is in the “red zone”, minyanim are currently limited to 10 people.

Should the injunction not be granted, the Yeshiva will have no choice but to close for Yom Tov.

I just spoke with the Rosh HaYeshiva. He is terribly pained by the current state of events and asked I deliver a message to the oilam. Firstly, he wants everyone to know that if Chas V’shalom the yeshiva is forced to close and you do not have a place to daven b’tzibur, you can and should daven B’yichidus, and to do this with great Simcha. The Kabbalos HaTorah of Simchas Torah is for each individual and our personal chelek in Torah. That is the Ikar Simcha of Simchas HaTorah and that should come through in our Tefillos Hayom and learning the entire Yom Tov.

The Rosh HaYeshiva’s ’s condition is Baruch Hashem improving and we hope he will be discharged from the hospital on Monday.

In addition, if you are willing to host a minyan on behalf of members of the kehilla and can take achrayus for storing and protecting a Sefer Torah for Yom Tov, please contact Chaim Meir Gladstone at 718-801-1445 and he will coordinate with you.

As the situation is fluid, and the hearing is starting shortly, please watch for updates. We daven that the שומע כל תפילות hear ours, and our בקשות be granted.

Sincerely,
Moshe Rubin
CEO
