NY Jets Acquire Aaron Rogers

According to multiple reports, Aaron Rodgers will be traded to the New York Jets in a blockbuster trade months in the making.

The full trade, per ESPN, is the Jets receiving Rodgers, the 15th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and a 2023 fifth-round pick (No. 170) in exchange for the 13th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, a 2023 second-round pick (No. 42), a sixth-round pick (No. 207) and a conditional 2024 second-round pick that will become a first if Rodgers plays 65% of plays this season.

Acquiring Aaron Rodgers would be a significant move for the NY Jets, as he is widely considered one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.

Rogers will immediately become the centerpiece of their offense and would likely elevate the team to playoff contention. Rodgers’ ability to make quick decisions, read defenses, and make accurate throws would help the Jets’ young and talented skill position players reach their full potential. Additionally, his experience and leadership would provide a stabilizing presence for the team as a whole.

However, there are potential drawbacks to acquiring Rodgers. First, he is 37 years old and has dealt with injuries in the past, so his durability could be a concern. Additionally, trading away a significant number of draft picks and/or players to acquire Rodgers could limit the Jets’ ability to build a strong team around him in the long-term.

Overall, while acquiring Aaron Rodgers would undoubtedly be a major coup for the NY Jets, it would require a significant investment and may not be the best move for the team’s long-term future. The Jets may be better served building around their current young quarterback, Zach Wilson, and using their resources to strengthen other areas of the team.
