In a tragic incident during a counterterrorism operation in Jenin, an Israeli Border Police officer lost her life when an explosive device targeted their vehicle. The attack resulted in one officer being seriously wounded, another moderately, and a third lightly. The fallen officer, identified as Sgt. Shai Garmai HY”D, a 19-year-old from Carmiel, was pronounced dead on Sunday morning, leaving behind grieving parents and three brothers.
The forces, acting on advanced intelligence, entered Jenin when the roadside bomb struck an IDF vehicle. While extracting the wounded officers, an Israeli airstrike, guided by an attack helicopter, targeted a group of Arab terrorists hurling explosives at the Israeli troops. Six terrorists were killed in the airstrike, further emphasizing the complexity and dangers faced during counterterrorism operations in the region.
The injured officers were promptly transferred to Rambam Medical Center for essential medical treatment. The incident highlights the ongoing challenges and risks confronted by Israeli security forces while carrying out vital counterterrorism missions.
