LONG ISLAND – More than 10,000 PSEG Long Island customers were without power Monday afternoon as damaging winds pounded the area.

As of 1:47 p.m., the PSEG outage map shows 10,264 outages. More than 7,700 of the outages are in Suffolk County, with the towns of Brookhaven, Islip and Huntington hit especially hard.

“Some repair work may be delayed until hazardous winds have subsided and because of new health best practices, such as social distancing,” PSEG says. “We also expect a limited ability to bring in crews from other utilities.”
