An airplane headed to Westchester County Airport has disappeared after losing communication with the air traffic control tower, as reported by police and local news outlets.
According to New York State Police, the single-engine plane was last seen about 1-mile northwest of the airport in the area of the Kensico Reservoir. The plane was last seen on radar at approximately 5:36 PM.
Westchester County search and rescue aircraft are having a difficult time locating the plane at this time due to heavy rain and fog in the area. The NYS Department of Environmental Protection will help with the search from the water.
